Georgia Tech does not lack for Joshes.

Josh Heath, Josh Okogie, Josh Pastner.

And now, Josh Lammers?

The ACC defensive player of the year was mistakenly grouped into the Josh clan during the ESPN2 broadcast of the NIT quarterfinal against Ole Miss on Tuesday night. Word got back to Lammers from friends who texted him to inform him of the gaffe.

“How’s that happen?” asked Lammers, who then attempted to tease out the conundrum. “I don’t know, because there’s not, like, a white Josh.”

At least not among his teammates. Lammers, whose middle name is William, said that he is sometimes mistakenly called “Rand” as in Rand Rowland, his fellow big man and roommate.

“I can see that — similar haircuts,” said Lammers, clearly bemused. “But, whatever.”

It wasn’t just the broadcast. A local TV reporter interviewing him after the game called him Josh. After he left the scrum, the mistake registered.

“Did he just call me Josh?” Lammers asked.

At the least, it’s not bad company.
