Georgia Tech has granted signee Myles Autry a release from his letter of intent, according to a tweet from his Twitter account sent Thursday afternoon. With the release, he can enroll elsewhere without losing a year of eligibility or sitting out a year, as would be required had he not been released.

Autry indicated that Tech is still an option for him. In a text message, he said that he has no restrictions on where he can enroll, a rather magnanimous gesture by coach Paul Johnson, with whom Autry met Thursday, according to a previous tweet.

It is another step in a hard-to-believe saga as the offseason ends for the Yellow Jackets. Autry was to report to campus in June, but did not due to an NCAA clearinghouse issue that held up his admission. Tuesday, Autry’s older brother Anthony was dismissed from the team for a repeat violation of the athletic association student-athlete code of conduct.

Following that, Myles, a highly-touted running back from Norcross High who had selected Tech in no small part to play with his brother, began to reconsider his choice.
