He averages 80 yards rushing per game and 30.4 yards on kick returns. … Coach Al Golden said WR Malcolm Lewis will miss the rest of the season and apply for a medical redshirt after dislocating his ankle Saturday.

Huddle up: Freshman Shadrach Thornton (Liberty County) had 145 yards on 21 carries to become the first N.C. State RB to rush for 100 yards this season and the first freshman to gain 100 yards since 2005. He also is first N.C. State freshman to eclipse 100 yards in his first collegiate game since 1981. … Starting RB Tony Creecy (undisclosed injury) missed Saturday’s game, and Mustafa Greene was suspended for the second straight week. Creecy is expected back this week, but Thornton also will play, coach Tom O’Brien said.
