Jose Alvarado signed a letter of intent to play for the Georgia Tech men’s basketball team on Wednesday.

Alvarado is a point guard from New York who signed with coach Josh Pastner over offers from Rutgers and Seton Hall.

Alvarado is a three-star point guard from Christ the King in Brooklyn. When he committed in September he was considered the No. 32 point guard in the U.S.

New York was once a pipeline for Tech under coach Bobby Cremins with point guard Kenny Anderson and Stephon Marbury.

The signing period will continue through Nov. 16.

Pastner said he and his staff have worked harder than anyone in recruiting in the hopes of securing a few signings.

Georgia Tech is a finalist for several players: Pace Academy forward Wendell Carter (ranked No. 3 in the country ESPN), Pebblebrook High guard Collin Sexton (No. 10), Norcross High forward Rayshaun Hammonds (No. 38) and Greenforest Christian Academy center Ikechukwu Obiagu (No. 42).
