Georgia State coach Trent Miles said he’s not concerned that Georgia Southern has asked its fans to wear white and “white out” the Georgia Dome for Saturday’s first football game between the two schools.
“I don’t care what colors are in the stands as long as there are people there; whether it’s our people or their people,” Miles said. “Hopefully, it’s a large contingent of both.”
Ticket sales as of Monday morning were slightly more than 10,800, with 3,500 of that on consignment to Georgia Southern, according to Georgia State.
The university conservatively projects attendance for Saturday’s game to be between 18,000-20,000, including students and walk-ups on game day.
The game should feature the most tickets sold and/or distributed for Georgia State since the slightly more than 26,000 for the 2011 season-opener against Clark Atlanta.
The Panthers are averaging 11,824 tickets sold for home games this year.
“Our fans are all blue, all in all the time, and we expect that to be the case even more this weekend,” Georgia State associate athletics director Jerry Trickie said.
Georgia Southern called for the “White out” last week. Coach Willie Fritz said his team’s fans are very passionate.
“We have a lot of them from greater Atlanta area and they aren’t afraid to travel,” he said. “I expect one or two to be at Georgia Dome on Saturday.”
