Mark the week of Aug. 24 on your calendars as a big celebration for college football in Atlanta and Georgia.

The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game will open the 2014 college football season with two marquee games in the Georgia Dome: Ole Miss will play Boise State at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, and Alabama will meet West Virginia on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 3:30 p.m.

Among the local teams, Georgia Tech opens at home on Saturday, Aug. 30 against Wofford, and Clemson will visit Georgia in Athens in another season opener that day. Georgia State will open its season on Wednesday, Aug. 27 against Abilene Christian at the Dome at 7 p.m.

Also that week, the new College Football Hall of Fame is tentatively set for its official opening but details are not yet set.
