Georgia Tech would have much rather had A-back Broderick Snoddy and receiver DeAndre Smelter on the sideline Saturday night without the crutches — alas, it had no miracle cures and no choice. The best the Yellow Jackets could get from two of their dynamic offensive performers was moral support, as both made the trip to Charlotte to be with their teammates. After gaining 4t6 yards on two carries, the junior Snoddy suffered a broken leg of the second quarter of the Clemson game. A senior, Smelter sustained a torn ACL against Georgia just a week ago. Having put together an outstanding season — 715 yards receiving, seven touchdowns, a tough blocker on the edge — Smelter was going to be keenly missed. At least the players got to share the experience first-hand, rather than from a couch back home.
