The Bulldogs lead the Wildcats 7-6 after 15 minutes in a game UGA has to win to keep its playoff hopes alive.

Georgia’s offense appeared dysfunctional in the early going. The Bulldogs were penalized three times, and their opening drive reached an uninspiring halt when quarterback Jake Fromm made an inexcusable throw to the flat that was intercepted by the Wildcats’ best defender, linebacker Josh Allen.

Kentucky started the drive at the 32, advancing the ball 12 yards before settling for a field goal. Quarterback Stephen Johnson had tight end C.J. Conrad open down the seam for what would have been touchdown, but overthrew him.

The Bulldogs’ offense couldn’t get moving, but a roughing-the-kicker penalty on a punt gave it new life. Led by Nick Chubb, Sony Michel and a 21-yard rush by Fromm, Georgia drove to the 7-yard line. Chubb punctuated the 12-play, 75-yard possession to put UGA up 7-3.

Kentucky didn’t waste time striking back. Johnson found Blake Bone for 45 yards on the first play from scrimmage. The Wildcats were in the red zone in two plays, but the UGA defense held up again and forced another field goal.
