AJ GRAY

Position, school: Safety, Washington County High School

Colleges: Committed to Georgia Tech a week after getting an early offer. He picked the Yellow Jackets over North Carolina, where his sister plays basketball.

Why Georgia Tech? "Everyone kind of thought he would go to North Carolina, but he just got a good vibe about Georgia Tech," Washington County coach Joel Ingram said. "AJ's family, they know the business. They went through the recruiting process with his sister. They know when schools are trying to buy time or genuinely interested. They felt genuine interest from Georgia Tech. Tech wanted AJ now. We're excited. Georgia Tech is a top-notch education, and they're recruiting him as a safety. He has always kind of liked Georgia Tech. When they put the offer on the table, he realized that's what he wanted. And he'll stick to it."

Vitals: 6-foot-1, 190 pounds

Things to know: Gray is one of the state's best high school quarterbacks, and was named GHSA Class AAA Offensive Player of the Year after helping his team reach the 2013 state finals (they lost to Lovett). Gray rushed for 1,324 yards and 18 touchdowns, while passing for 1,913 yards and 16 touchdowns with only four interceptions. Gray also started on defense, registering 75 tackles and five interceptions … He may try to walk-on Georgia Tech's basketball team … His father is principal at Washington County

They said it: "The thing Tech likes about him is that he's a safety-athlete who can probably be a big safety or he could grow into an outside linebacker. He's an outstanding safety. He's a very intelligent. He's one of the best basketball players in Class AAA, too. He's smooth and deceptive. He's not going to wow you with his speed but it's just like basketball – he's smoothing along, and all of sudden you look up and see him dunking. It's the same way in football. He's got that 'game gear' and 'game speed.' He seems to make plays in games that count the most." – Ingram

WILL BRYAN

Position, school: Offensive lineman, Franklin County

Colleges: Committed to Georgia Tech before the start of his junior season. Bryan may have been the earliest commitment that Paul Johnson has ever accepted while coach of the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech was Bryan's only offer at the time.

Why Georgia Tech: "Academics were definitely a major reason why I picked Georgia Tech, along with the respect I have for the coaches; they are great people. Georgia Tech is big-time college football, and I love the offense. It's the perfect fit for me. I want to be there."

Vitals: 6-3, 270. Has 4.0 GPA and plans to major in Business or Economics.

In the know: There will be some "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" in this family over the next few years. His father, Mac Bryan, played offensive guard at UGA for the 1983-84 seasons. His older brother, Justin Bryan, is an outfielder for UGA's baseball team.

They said it: "I've got to admit it was interesting putting on a Georgia Tech hat for the first time. When my son told me he was going to commit there, I went and bought me a hat because I'm going to support him 100 percent. I'm a Georgia baseball fan, but when my other son is playing football for Georgia Tech, I'm going to be a Yellow Jacket fan. I mean, he's my son. We're excited for him. He's a smart kid. Georgia Tech is just a good fit for him. He fits their offense very well." – Mac Bryan
