Ex-Georgia State wide receiver Albert Wilson posted an official time of 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine on Sunday.

Wilson’s time tied for seventh-fastest in the position group. The fastest posted time was 4.33 seconds.

Wilson followed that drill by catching every pass thrown during the gauntlet drills two reps.

Wilson is fighting to become the second Panther to be selected in the NFL Draft. Defensive tackle Christo Bilukidi was the first two years ago.

Wilson was a prolific player at Georgia State.

He caught 175 passes for 3,190 yard and 23 touchdowns.

Because of his size (5-9, 202 pounds), he may be considered more of a special-teams player as a returner. He returned 95 kickoffs for 2,338 yards with two touchdowns. He also returned 41 punts for 376 yards.

He was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s special teams co-player of the year in 2012 and was first-team All-Sun Belt in 2013 as a wide receiver.

In the other drills, Wilson lifted 225 pounds 10 times, which was among the lowest number of repetitions.

Here’s his bio from the NFL Combine site:

Analysis

Strengths

Has a strong, compact build. Very good timed speed and leaping ability. Will catch in a crowd and can make the first tackler miss. Nice run vision after the catch. Can take a hit and pop back up. Tracks the ball well over his shoulder. Has a feel for finding lanes in the return game. Continually improved and outstanding overall multipurpose production as a runner, receiver and return man.

Weaknesses

A bit straight-linish and unsudden out of his breaks. Limited strength to beat the jam and avoid the hold-up. Inconsistent hands-catcher. Has carried a sense of entitlement and is still learning what it means to be a pro. Could require some additional maintenance.

Bottom Line

Short, squatty, Sun Belt Conference standout utility threat with potential to compete for a job as a slot receiver and return man in the pros.
