Nick Chubb got off to a fast start, gaining 120 yards and scoring two touchdowns as the Georgia tailback position put on a show in a 51-14 lightning-marred victory against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday afternoon at Sanford Stadium in Athens. The game was called early in the fourth quarter when lightning would have delayed the game a second time.

A few minutes after the No. 9 Bulldogs scored their final touchdown, coach Mark Richt and officials met on the field for an extended conversation and the decision was made to conclude the game. Richt told a post-game interviewer they were concerned for the players’ health if they had to wait out a second delay.

Most of the fans had already left the stadium.
