Coming off his fifth championship in nine years, Nick Saban is again caught in NFL rumors.

Arguably the best college football coach of all-time, some believe the competitor in Saban is still irritated by a mediocre tenure with the Miami Dolphins from 2005-06.

Saban’s struggles in the pros prompted him to take the Alabama job, where he’s on a historic run of titles and top recruiting classes.

Recently retired NFL coach Bruce Arians is among those who won’t rule out a Saban return, and one team in particular has Saban’s attention: the New York Giants.

As a longtime member of the coaching community, it’s worth hearing Arians out.

“There’s a job he covets and it just happens to be open,” Arians said on the Colin Cowherd show on Tuesday. “But he’s got a dynasty right now. Another dynamite recruiting class. Why he would do it, I don’t know but it would not shock me if he did.”

Arians said the Giants were “the thing” when he and Saban were growing up. The Giants are one of the premier brands in professional sports, making a pairing with Saban that much more tantilizing.

It's not the first mention of Saban and the Giants. Earlier this month there were reports of potential mutual interest. When the Giants job opened two seasons ago, Saban's camp was rumored to have contacted the Giants, only for talks to cease because of his wife's preference to stay in Alabama, according to MMQB's Peter King.

In the end, it’s hard to phathom Saban departing the Crimson Tide, especially after what was his best coaching job yet in throwing a freshman quarterback into the second half of the championship and rallying to win.

But the NFL will keep calling, which means the door will always be open. If New York is the job Saban wants, this could be his chance.
