Georgia Tech guard Trae Golden is questionable for Tuesday night’s game against Duke, coach Brian Gregory said Monday morning. Golden missed the Boston College game last Thursday with a groin injury after playing with limited effectiveness against Virginia Feb. 8.

Tech did not play over the weekend after the Boston College game on Thursday, giving Golden extra recovery time.

Gregory said Golden could play, but his explosiveness is still lacking, which is what the coach said prior to the Boston College game. Having Golden, whose 13.4 points per game and 3.1 assist per game averages lead the team, available against No. 8 Duke would be beneficial, but he likely won’t play if not at full strength.

“So we’re not going to take chances until he’s shown over a couple days that he can be explosive and defend the ball and different things like that,” Gregory said.

Gregory also said that Carter, who has now played two games in his return from knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus, is a week away from regaining the form he showed prior to the injury. He has been taking extra practice to sharpen his skills.

“He’s a hardworking kid,” Gregory said. “I’ve got to kick him out of the gym half the time because he’s trying to get extra (work) in right now.”
