Atkins named Sun Belt player of the week

Feb 24, 2014Georgia State’s Manny Atkins was named the Sun Belt men’s basketball player of the week on Monday.
Atkins, a senior, averaged 16 points and 7.7 rebounds in leading the Panthers (20-7, 13-1) to three consecutive wins.
His 3-pointer with eight-tenths of a second remaining lifted the Panthers to an 80-77 win over Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday.
Georgia State will play at Texas-Arlington on Thursday needing just one win, or a loss by Western Kentucky at Texas State, to clinch at least a share of the Sun Belt’s regular-season title. The Panthers can claim the title with two more wins.
