Joe Mantiply allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings and Andrew Rash went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to help Virginia Tech split a doubleheader against Florida State with an 8-1 win in the second game Saturday in Blacksburg, Va.

The Seminoles (24-4, 8-4), who lost the series opener 3-2 on Friday before winning the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader 11-10, lost an ACC series for the first time this season. FSU had won 12 of 13 conference series dating to last season.

Clark Labitan followed Mantiply (2-0) by pitching 2 1/3 shutout innings for the Hokies (20-9, 7-5).

In the first game, former Port St. Lucie High School star Stephen McGee went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to help the Seminoles, ranked No. 6 in the nation by Baseball America, prevail.

No. 9 Virginia 8, Miami 1: Three Virginia pitchers combined to scatter four hits as the Cavaliers (25-2, 9-2 ACC) beat the Hurricanes (19-11, 4-7) for their ninth straight win and second over UM in as many days.

Virginia left-handed starter Scott Silverstein (5-0) worked 6 2/3 innings and struck out nine. Relievers Whit Mayberry and Kyle Crockett finished the game, combining to allow one hit.

The Hurricanes grabbed a 1-0 lead on Garrett Kennedy’s RBI single in the second inning, but Virginia responded with three runs in the bottom half against Miami starter Bryan Radziewski (3-1).

Radziewski, a junior left-hander who struck out 16 in his previous outing against Virginia Tech, went six innings, allowing six hits and four runs (two earned). He struck out five and walked two.

The Cavaliers scored four runs in the eighth. Miami, which lost 15-4 on Friday, will look to avoid a sweep today.

Florida 7, No. 11 Mississippi 0: Jonathon Crawford pitched a two-hitter, striking out eight to lift the host Gators (12-16, 3-5 SEC) over the Rebels (23-5, 4-4).

Crawford, a junior right-hander, walked two and improved to 1-4 this season. Connor Mitchell and Mike Fahrman each two RBIs for UF, and Harrison Bader hit a solo home run.

Florida, which lost 4-3 in 11 innings Friday, will look to take the series with a victory today.

Florida Atlantic 7, No. 24 South Alabama 6: The host Owls (18-9, 6-2 Sun Belt) scored an unearned run in the eighth inning to complete a comeback against the Jaguars (22-6, 5-3) and earn their fifth straight win overall and second over South Alabama in two days.

FAU scored the game’s final five runs. Brendon Sanger came home from second base for the go-ahead run in the eighth when South Alabama shortstop Graham Odom misplayed Ricky Santiago’s grounder.

Palm Beach Atlantic 2-7, Florida Southern 9-3: Jonathan Kies pitched his second complete game in as many outings, allowing three runs in seven innings to help the host Sailfish (19-13) split a doubleheader by winning the second game 7-3 over the Moccasins (14-15).

Bobby Kissner hit a three-run homer in the second game for Palm Beach Atlantic. Anthony Ortiz went 3-for-3 in the first game for the Sailfish, but they lost 9-2.
