One of Mike Budenholzer’s new duties as a head coach will be to fill out a ballot to select the reserves for the NBA All-Star Game.

Apparently, he’s done it before. But he’ll have to attest to this one.

Budenholzer spent 19 seasons as an assistant coach in San Antonio working under Gregg Popovich. His duties extended beyond the court.

“I will take the fifth,” Budenholzer said when asked about filling out a ballot for the first time. “Pop was very liberal about delegating responsibilities in San Antonio. It’s the first time I’ll sign it.

“We’ll do the same thing (in Atlanta). We’ll all get together and talk about it. The assistants watch a ton of film and we do things together. We’re similar to Pop and we’ll figure out who is deserving and we’ll fill out a ballot.”

Following the coaches balloting, the All-Star Game reserves will be announced Thursday.
