Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers’ arm was hit by a pitch during Wednesday night’s 7-4 loss to the San Diego Padres and the welt that developed was unbelievable.

With the bases loaded in the sixth inning, Flowers recorded a painful RBI when a pitch struck his left forearm.

Flowers finished the half-inning and was replaced by catcher Kurt Suzuki in the bottom of the sixth.

After the game, Braves manager Brian Snitker said the welt was softball-sized.

"The look kind of freaked me out, too," Flowers told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "You hear stories about breaking your arm and it just being numb or something. But I was able to move it around OK. I think it looked a lot worse than it is. Not that it feels good, but it looked pretty grotesque."

Flowers said he might be out of the lineup for a day, depending on if the swelling goes down enough.
