The Braves 400 Fan Club is hosting its annual winter banquet and fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Century Hotel. The theme is “Celebrating 50 Years of Supporting Braves Baseball.” This year’s Eddie Glennon Gameboree will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Braves 400 Fan Club, 1965-2015. A gala reception, silent auction and raffle of Braves memorabilia begins at 5 p.m. with the awards dinner and program following at 6:30. p.m. Many former Braves players have been invited, and Braves Chairman Emeritus Bill Bartholomay and Hall of Famer Phil Niekro are among the early RSVP’s. Braves broadcaster Jim Powell will emcee the program.

Presentations include the Phil Niekro College Scholarship to Berry College and Kennesaw State University. A number of awards will be given by the Braves 400 Fan Club and the Atlanta Braves. Awards for outstanding performances by Braves minor leaguers in 2014 will be presented to Kyle Kubitza, Williams Perez, Braeden Schlehube, and Danville Braves manager Randy Ingle.

The 2014 Metro-Atlanta High School Player of the Year will be presented to Michael Chavis from Sprayberry High School. Max Pentecost from Kennesaw State will receive the Jason Varitek Most Outstanding College Scholar Athlete in Georgia Award. The Luke Appling Nostalgia Award and the Ivan Allen, Jr. “Mr. Baseball” Award will be announced at the banquet.
