Leaving Atlanta was tough for Brandon Phillips.

After learning he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night, the second baseman thanked his family, friends and Braves fans in a message on Instagram.

“Thank you family, friends, and fans for all the love and support,” Phillips wrote. “Never did I think coming from #Wagram, NC and raised in #StoneMountain, Ga. would I reach a milestone like this! Hard work & Dedication!”

The Braves announced late Thursday night that Phillips and cash considerations had been traded for Angels catcher Tony Sanchez.
