Blake Griffin released a statement on Twitter Tuesday morning reflecting on his time with the Los Angeles Clippers and his trade to the Detroit Pistons.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday night that the Clippers agreed to trade Griffin to the Pistons along with Brice Johnson and Willie Reed in exchange for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic and a first-round and a second-round draft pick.
Griffin initially posted a GIF of a surprised Will Smith from the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" in reaction to the trade news on Monday night, but released a full statement Tuesday morning after having time to reflect.
“I’m so proud to have been a part of the success of the Clippers organization,” Griffin wrote. “LA has been my home since I started in the league and I will be forever grateful to the city for embracing me and supporting me. To the fans, you have been awesome every step of the way. Thank you for your years of support. Now I’m ready for the next chapter, getting to work and helping the Detroit Pistons make a run in the Eastern Conference.”
