Trae Young is back at work.

Hey, the Hawks point guard said he took off a week or so.

Following his rookie campaign, Young has been back at the Hawks practice facility getting ready for next season. All this while the NBA playoffs continue.

“I don’t like to take a lot of time off,” Young said on 92.2 The Game on Wednesday. “I want to continue to get better. I want to be playing this time next year.”

Young was named a unanimous selection to the NBA All-Rookie First Team by the league on Tuesday. He received first-team votes from all 100 voters. He is also a finalist for Rookie of the Year, which will be awarded next month.

Young said in the interview that he took some time off to visit family. He also made a couple of business trips. He went to Oklahoma City to watch Game 3 of the Thunder-Trail Blazers series. He also went to Houston to watch Game 3 of the Rockets-Warriors series.

“It’s definitely fuel to the fire that we are not there this year,” Young said. “But I want to be there next year to experience that. … I wanted to experience those playoff atmospheres before I got there.”
