Trae Young was ruled out for Friday’s Hawks-Wizards game with flu-like symptoms.

Jeff Teague will start in his place, along with Kevin Huerter, De’Andre Hunter, John Collins and Dewayne Dedmon. This season, Teague is averaging 7.2 points and 4.1 assists in 21 games played with the Hawks.

Young is not at the arena, Pierce said, as it made more sense for him to stay at the team hotel and rest. He also added he didn’t think there was any cause for concern.

“There’s no respiratory issues, he just didn’t feel well,” Pierce said. “Just needing more rest, and why bring him down here to try and rest him when we can keep him at the hotel. ... There’s nothing, I don’t think, overly concerning for us. Just needing to get him some rest, and the best way’s to keep him at the hotel.”
