Dennis Schroder says he is ready to take over the starting point guard position for the Hawks.

One day after the Hawks agreed to a trade that will send Jeff Teague to the Pacers as part of a three-team deal, Schroder posted on Twitter. He wrote, all in capital letters, “Can’t describe this feeling!! I earned coach trust & really appreciate that opportunity!!! ATLHawks” The post was also accompanied by a heart emoji, the hashtag #CoachBud and a photo of Schroder and head coach Mike Budenholzer.

Schroder is the heir apparent to the starting position following the trade of Teague. He will be entering his fourth season with the Hawks after being a first-round pick, No. 17 overall, in the 2013 NBA Draft. Schroder got increased minutes this season and played down the stretch in several games, including the Hawks’ season-ending Game 4 loss to the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
