Paul Pierce was indeed too late.

His potential game-tying 3-pointer was not released before time expired to end Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series between the Hawks and Wizards Friday night in Washington, according to an NBA review of the final two minutes.

The league released its Last Two Minute report Saturday and found no incorrect calls in the closing minutes of the game, including Pierce’s shot that would have tied the game at 94-94. The basket was originally called good but overturned following a video review giving the Hawks the series clinching victory. The report stated that the overturn was the correct call.

The report listed 12 other plays that were reviewed and all were listed as either the correct call or correct non-call.

The NBA issues the report as an assessment of officiated events that occurred in all games within five points at the two-minute mark.
