Paul Millsap will miss two more games with a right shoulder injury suffered last week.
The Hawks All-Star forward will not play tonight against the Hornets and Sunday against the Wizards, according to Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer. They will be the third and fourth games missed since Millsap was injured against the Nets last Saturday. As was the case when the Hawks ruled Millsap out the first two games, he will be re-evaluated following these next two games.
“Paul is making good progress,” Budenholzer said. “We feel good about the progress he is making and the timeline and where we sit.”
Budenholzer said he was not concerned about Millsap’s availability for the playoffs, which begin next weekend.
“You’ve got to go step by step and cross each line but, like I said, we feel good, we feel positive about where Paul is considering the timeline and where we are in the season.”
Millsap was not made available to the media Friday. The Hawks will have two regular-season games remaining if Millsap returns after missing the next two - versus the Knicks Monday and at the Bulls Wednesday in the finale.
Millsap, the Hawks leading scorer and rebounder, was diagnosed with a right shoulder contusion and sprain following a collision with the Nets’ Earl Clark.
