The Hawks assist total is usually is good indicator of the success of their offense.

In Games 1 and 2 of the Hawks playoff series against the Celtics – both wins – they assisted on over about 64 percent of their field goals. In games 3 and 4 – both losses – they assisted on 50 of their field goals.

“We’ve got to get back to playing with pace and moving the ball,” Hawks starting point guard Jeff Teague said before Game 5 of the series Tuesday. “Get back to playing with motion. I think we did a lot of pick and roll, a lot of isolation in the last two games. We talked about that today, getting back to playing with our regular pace with motion and using screens, things like that.”

The Hawks finished second in the NBA during the regular season in assists per game at 25.6. The trailed only the Spurs’ total of 28.9 per game.

Teague has averaged 7.0 assists in the series, up from his average of 5.9 during the regular season. Dennis Schroder has averaged 1.8 assists in the series, down from 4.4.

“Obviously, assists are something that we take pride in, work on and emphasize all year,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. “But there are times when you have to shoot a better percentage, you’ve got to make more shots. So, it’s a little bit of both. We can do better moving the ball. We can do better driving the ball. And be better and more efficient in all ways.”

Here are the Hawks totals through four games:

Game 1: 23 of 35 = 65.7 percent

Game 2: 20 of 32 = 62.5 percent

Game 3: 19 of 38 = 50.0 percent

Game 4: 18 of 37 = 48.6 percent
