As expected, the Hawks announced Saturday afternoon that they waived Mark Ogden and Kenny Gabriel.

The Hawks will retain their G League rights, however.

Ogden signed with the Hawks earlier Saturday and Gabriel signed Friday -- it seemed unlikely either would be on the opening-night roster.

Ogden averaged 13.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game as a senior at Dixie State in the 2015-16 season and spent the past three years playing overseas (with Racing Lux in Luxembourg from 2016-17 and with Olimpi in the Republic of Georgia from 2017-19).

Gabriel played three seasons at Auburn and played for Turk Telecom in Turkey last season, averaging 9.2 points and 5.6 rebounds, appearing in 42 games. Gabriel has played in summer league for Sacramento, Cleveland and Miami.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
