Jenkins scores 20 in D-League assignment game

John Jenkins scored 20 points for Fort Wayne in a 100-89 win over Iowa in a NBA Development League assignnment game Tuesday.

Jenkins, the Hawks’ former first-round pick in 2012, came off the bench and was 7 of 13 from the field in 27 minutes. The shooting guard added five rebounds and one assist. In three games on this assignment, Jenkins is averaging 21.3 points.

Adreian Payne, this year’s first-round pick, is also on assignment with Fort Wayne. He started at center and finished with 11 points, of 5 of 9 shooting, six rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes. In his five D-League games, Payne is averaging 12.6 points and 10.2 rebounds.

Fort Wayne plays again at Maine on Thursday.
