John Jenkins and Adreian Payne each scored 23 points in seperate NBA Development League assignment games Tuesday.
Jenkins, the former first-round pick, was part of Idaho’s 102-96 win over Oklahoma City. He was 8 of 18 from the field, including 3 of 7 from 3-point range, in 37 minutes. Jenkins started the game at forward and added four rebounds, three assists, one steal with five turnovers.
Jenkins will play again Wednesday as Idado hosts Oklahoma City again.
Payne, the rookie first-rounder, had a double-double for Austin in a 138-134 win over Reno. He was 9 of 14 from the field and collected 16 rebounds in 28 minutes off the bench. Payne added two blocks, one assist and had two turnovers.
Payne will play again Tuesday as Austin starts a back-to-back at Bakersfield.
Both Jenkins and Payne were assigned by the flex rule. They are expected to remain on assignment through Sunday when the D-League breaks for its annual Showcase.
In eight games, over two assignments, Jenkins is averaging 19.1 points and 4.3 rebounds, with Fort Wayne and Idao. In 14 games, over several assignments, Payne is averaging 13.4 points and 8.9 rebounds with Fort Wayne and Austin.
