Kris Humphries did not play – coach’s decision – in the Hawks’ Game 1 victory over the Celtics in their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series on Saturday.

It was the first time since the forward/center made his debut with the Hawks on March 4 that he did not enter a game. Humphries has most often been the first player off the bench, along with Thabo Sefolosha, in the Hawks’ rotation.

However, in the Hawks’ 102-101 series-opening victory, Mike Muscala was the first substitute as he entered to replace Al Horford at center.

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said Sunday that Humphries is healthy and he expects to use both he, Muscala and Mike Scott as bigs off the bench.

“Kris is healthy and Kris is good to go,” Budenholzer said when asked of Humphries’ status. “I think we’re going to need both he and Muskie, and obviously Mike Scott off the bench. In a long series, we’re going to need everybody. I think Kris knows that. Kris is ready. The thing that Kris has brought to us is a physicality and a toughness. Sometimes those are at a premium against Boston. They’re at a premium in the playoffs. He’s ready to go. They both bring a lot of good things to the court – he and Muskie. Hopefully we’ll be able to take advantage of both of those guys, and our depth.”

Humphries signed with the Hawks after reaching a buyout agreement with the Suns after a short stint following a trade from the Wizards. In 21 regular-season games with the Hawks, Humphries has averaged 6.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15.8 minutes.
