Al Horford took out a full-page ad in Thursday’s edition of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution to thank the city and Hawks fans for his nine seasons with the team.

Horford agreed to a four-year, $113 million deal with the Celtics as an unrestricted free agent, ending nearly a decade as a cornerstone of the Hawks organization after he was selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

The ad appears on page A5 of the AJC. It is a photo of Horford, with arms raised, and the following letter:

You made my NBA dream come true 9 years ago…

You welcomed me with open arms

You supported me through the ups and downs

You were the reason for our success

I will remember everything we accomplished

I will cherish each and every memory

I am grateful for each and every fan

I wish everyone the best

Before I leave, from the bottom of my heart

THANK YOU, ATLANTA

Al Horford
