Hawks 94, Wizards 91

How the game was won: DeMarre Carroll made back-to-back baskets, cutting to the basket, on assists from Jeff Teague in the final 58 seconds as the Hawks won Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Friday night at the Verizon Center. Carroll finished with a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds. Paul Millsap and Teague each had 20 points.

Turning point: Oh, the dramatics. Paul Pierce appeared to hit a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Wizards, who came back from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit. An official review found Pierce did not get the shot off before time expired. Game over.

Number: 3 of 16. Wizards shooting percentage to start the game as the Hawks opened an eight-point lead. The Hawks pulled out a series clinching win without having to face a first punch from the home team.

Next: The Hawks begin the Eastern Conference on Wednesday in Atlanta.
