Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer confirmed Monday that the team will enter the season with the roster of 15 players as it currently stands.

The NBA deadline for setting opening day rosters is 5 p.m. today. NBA teams are allowed a maximum of 15 players on a roster.

The Hawks have 14 players under guaranteed contracts and Mike Muscala on a partially guaranteed deal. The center’s deal will become fully guaranteed if he is on the roster on Jan. 7. The team brought 17 players to training camp and waived Dexter Pittman and Jarell Eddie last week.

In the past, the Hawks have preferred to carry 13 or 14 players to allow for in-season roster flexibility.

According to league rules, NBA teams can have a maximum of 13 players active for a game. The Hawks will have to make two players inactive.
