Dennis Schroder will again play for the German National team this summer. And he will again have company from a member of the Hawks basketball operations staff.
Schroder reiterated during his exit interview following the season that he will play for Germany in the 2015 EuroBasket tournament. The tournament, from Sept. 5-20, is a qualifier for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Jeff Peterson, a scout and coordinator of basketball operations for the Hawks, will serve as a special consultant for the German team. He served in the same capacity when Schroder played for the national team last summer.
Schroder said the experience of playing for Germany was a major factor in his marked improvement last season from his rookie year. It can only help that a member of the Hawks’ staff will be with him.
The EuroBasket tournament is comprised of 24 teams and will be played in Croatia, France, Germany and Latvia. The Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki has committed to play for Germany.
