There is still work to do on the Hawks roster.
The time it takes to assemble the final group that goes to training camp in September remains to be seen.
The Hawks are being very active in trying to improve the team, according to a person familiar with the situation. Even with a roster that currently stands at 15-plus under contract, the Hawks are looking to add another front-line player and a point guard in the coming days or weeks. A player such as Kris Humphries, who the Hawks signed late last season and has expressed a desire to return in his exit interview, could still be an option.
It is possible the Hawks could go to training camp with more than 15 players under contract and will need to make the decision of cutting one or more before the season. In the past, the Hawks have preferred to carry 14 players, but they did go into last season with the maximum of 15.
The Hawks offseason moves can officially begin Thursday with the end of the NBA moratorium. All indications are the agreed upon deal that sends Jeff Teague to the Pacers and returns the draft rights to Taurean Prince will be completed Thursday. The signings of Dwight Howard, Kent Bazemore and Malcolm Delaney could been done any time in the days following for salary-cap reasons and/or potential moves.
Stay tuned.
