A two-game road trip turned into a two-game nightmare.
The Hawks dropped their second straight game with a 104-94 defeat at the hands of the Knicks Sunday afternoon. They blew a fourth-quarter lead in a loss at the Hornets Friday.
There have been better weekends.
The Knicks took a 10-9 lead early in the first quarter and never trailed again. They led by as many as 15 points in the contest.
The Hawks (9-4) were led by Paul Millsap with 19 points. Dwight Howard had his 10th double-double with 18 points and 18 rebounds and Kyle Korver had 17 points.
The Hawks shot just 40 percent from the floor as the struggled all afternoon. Dennis Schroder finished with one point, on 0 of 8 shooting, with three assists and three turnovers. He did not play most of the second half, including all of the fourth quarter, and finished with just 22 minutes.
The Knicks (6-6) were led by Carmelo Anthony’s game-high 31 points. Kristaps Porzingas added 19 points.
The Hawks lost Tim Hardaway Jr. late in the fourth quarter with an abrasion on his head after being hit by Anthony in a rebound battle.
