The Hawks assigned Edy Tavares to the NBA Development League on Wednesday. The rookie center will play for the Bakersfield Jam via the flexible assignment rule.

Bakersfield has two games, both in California, before the Hawks continue their road trip with games in Los Angeles against the Lakers and Clippers Friday and Saturday. The Jam are at the Santa Cruz Warriors Wednesday night at 10 p.m. (ET) and at the Los Angeles Defenders Thursday at 11 p.m. (ET).

The 7-foot-3 Tavares has played in 14 D-League games this season in several assignments. He has averaged 10.1 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 20.9 minutes. He has a .685 field goal percentage.
