The Hawks have assigned rookie DeAndre Bembry to the NBA Development League for an anticipated short stay.

Bembry will play for Salt Lake City Stars, the affiliate of the Jazz. The Stars play at the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Thursday. Bembry could then return to the Hawks, who have games at home against the Pistons on Friday and at the Raptors on Saturday.

The Hawks have often utilized the D-League to get the young players opportunities to play as part of their development. They will continue that trend this season.

Bembry, the 6-foot-6 guard/forward, has appeared in seven games this season. He has averaged 1.3 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 5.0 minutes.
