The Hawks have agreed to a contract with forward Jeremy Evans, according to a person familiar with the situation. The former NBA Slam Dunk Champion will come to training camp with the team.
Evans, 30, played six NBA seasons, including his first five with the Jazz. He also played one season with the Mavericks, his last in the league, in 2015-16. He has career averages of 3.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in 10.5 minutes over 249 career games. He played last season in Russia for Khimki of the VTB United League.
Evans, 6-foot-9, was drafted by the Jazz with the 55th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft out of Western Kentucky
His best NBA season was 2013-14 when Evans averaged 6.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 66 games with the Jazz.
Evans won the 2012 Slam Dunk Contest at the NBA All-Star Weekend. He also participated in 2013 but lost to Terrence Ross.
The Hawks open training camp later this month with media day on Sept. 25 followed by three days at the University of Georgia.
