LAS VEGAS — The Hawks formally acquired Thabo Sefolosha Tuesday but the move came via a sign-and-trade with the Thunder. The deal, which did not involve any major players, will net the Thunder salary cap flexibility

The Hawks acquired Sefolosha and the draft rights to prospect Giorgos Printezis for a $4 million trade exception and the rights to Sofoklis Schortsanitis. Neither Printezis nor Schortsanitis, who both play overseas, are expected to come to the NBA.

The Hawks had agreed on a three-year, $12 million contract with Sefolosha earlier this month as an unrestricted free agent.

“Thabo is an unselfish, competitive and playoff-tested player, and does many things well on both sides of the ball,” Hawks general manager Danny Ferry said of the guard/forward. “He also fills a need, giving us more size and depth at the wing position. He’s been a part of winning programs and will fit our culture well.”
