A brief look at the Hawks’ 117-105 victory against the Minnesota Timberwoles in Minneapolis on Monday night:

How the game was won: The Hawks stepped up their defense in the second half, limiting the Timberwolves to 19 third-quarter points. In addition, the Hawks got double-digit scoring from Al Horford (28 points), DeMarre Carroll (26), Paul Millsap (19), Jeff Teague (12) and Kyle Korver (12).

Turning point: The Hawks started the third quarter on a 7-0 run to break open a close game and take an 11-point lead. The advantage would stay at double digits the rest of the game, improving the Hawks to 37-1 when they hold a lead of 10 or more points at any point during a game this season.

Number: 8 of 11. The combined first-quarter shooting of Hawks big men Millsap (6 of 9) and Horford (2 of 2). The duo was a combined 4 of 21 for the game in Sunday's loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Next: The Hawks are off Tuesday to travel to Boston where they will take on the Celtics on Wednesday in the final game before the All-Star break.
