The Hawks have sold out Saturday afternoon’s Game 4 of their Eastern Conference playoff series with the Pacers. The team had opened the 400 level for additional seating. Those sections were curtained off for Thursday’s Game 3.
The Hawks lead the best-of-seven series 2-1. The need two more wins to eliminate the top-seeded Pacers.
Hawks guard Kyle Korver credited the Philips Arena crowd for playing a part in Thursday night’s Game 3 victory. Korver paused during an answer to an unrelated question to make his point.
“Our crowd was amazing,” Korver said. “That was the best Hawks crowd I’ve ever been a part of. It’s one thing to cheer when your team makes a good play. It’s another to cheer your team to make a good play. I thought a couple times when we were down, they really got us going. They were awesome tonight. We really felt the energy.”
The Hawks listed Game 3 as a sellout although there were visably empty seats in the arena.
As for the TV audience, SportSouth posted its highest rating for a Hawks game since 2012. The game had a 3.38 rating and a peak of 6.08 in the 9:15 p.m. quarter-hour. The May 1, 2012 Hawks-Celtics playoff game had a 4.40 rating.
