Former Hawks center Elton Brand finished third in voting for the 2014-15 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award, it was announced Wednesday. The Spurs’ Tim Duncan won the award, recognizing the player deemed the best teammate based on selfless play, leadership on and off the court, a role model to other NBA players and a dedication to his team.

Duncan received 1,494 points. He was followed by the Grizzlies’ Vince Carter (818), Brand (707), Pelican’s Ryan Anderson (653) and the Nuggets’ Jameer Nelson (652) in the top five. Brand received 21 first-place votes.

A panel of NBA legends nominated six players from each conference for the award and then nearly 300 NBA players submitted their votes through confidential balloting conducted by the league office. Ten points were awarded for a first-place vote, seven for second, five for third, three for fourth and one for fifth; players were not allowed to vote for a teammate.

Brand finished his second season with the Hawks. He was not re-signed this summer and the 16-year veteran has hinted at retirement.
