As expected, Hawks draftee Isaia Cordinier will return to France for another season. He will play for Antibes in the French Pro A basketball league, a step up from last season.
The Hawks selected Cordinier in the second round, No. 44 overall, in last month’s NBA Draft. The 19-year-old Cordinier played last season with AS Denain Voltaire in the French Pro B league and averaged 10.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 23.4 minutes over 32 games.
Cordinier,a 6-foot-4 guard, recently competed for the Hawks in the Las Vegas Summer League. He appeared in five games and averaged 3.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 16.6 minutes. He missed the Hawks’ final game of the tournament with a right wrist injury.
The Hawks will continue to hold his draft rights as he plays overseas.
The Hawks also hold the draft rights to Marcus Eriksson (No. 50) and Dimitrios Agravanis (No. 59), both selected in the second round of last year’s draft.
Eriksson, who is coming back from torn ACL, played for FC Barcelona Lassa in Spain’s ACB League. Barcelona holds a team option on the 6-7 guard and he will likely to return for another season. Barcelona is crowded at the wing position but with Alex Albrines agreeing to a deal with the Thunder there should be more playing time for Eriksson.
Agravanis will return for another season with Olympiacos in the Greek League. The 6-10 forward/center helped Olympiacos to its second straight Greek League title last season. He was also a part of the Greece national team that lost to Croatia earlier this month in the FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament. Agravanis had seven points and three rebounds in the loss.
