Kent Bazemore continues to work his way into the bench rotation for the Hawks.

The guard played just three minutes in Tuesday’s win over the Clippers. However, he played double-digit minutes in the previous five games. During that stretch, he set season-highs for field goals, 3-pointers made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, assists, blocks and points.

“The confidence in Kent is really high,” coach Mike Budenholzer said. “I think we all have to remind ourselves, including me, he missed basically the whole summer recovering from a (foot) injury. It took him a little bit of time with his body, his teammates, a new system.

“I think he has been really good. We’ve used him in the meat of the game and then at the end of games if we need to get a stop. We all have a lot of confidence in Kent.”

Bazemore signed a two-year deal with the Hawks as an unrestricted free agent this summer. He missed the end of last season with the Lakers after surgery on his foot. The Hawks brought the guard along slowly in preseason and the start of the regular season. Of late, the Hawks have been calling on Bazemore’s defensive ability.
