Shelvin Mack expects to be ready for the start of training camp after the Hawks guard underwent right shoulder surgery in June.
Mack suffered a Grade 5 AC separation and some ligament damage in the closing minutes of the Hawks’ Game 4 season-ending loss in Cleveland in the Eastern Conference finals. He has surgery the following week and the diagnosis called for him to miss 3-4 months.
Mack said he started form shooting this week.
“I’m doing really good,” Mack told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Tuesday.
Mack added he believes he will be cleared by the start of camp at the end of September. The Hawks are scheduled for their media day on Sept. 28 before camp opens with a three-day stint at the University of Georgia.
Mack will be entering his third season with the Hawks. The reserve averaged 5.4 points, 1.4 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 15.1 minutes over 55 games last season.
