For the fourth straight game — and the third save situation — the Braves bypassed using closer Arodys Vizcaino on Sunday.

Interim manager Brian Snitker said Vizcaino, who has saved 10 games this season but has blown three others and lost four games, has been recovering from a skin irritation on his right elbow and could have pitched in the Braves’ 2-0 win over the White Sox.

“He has a spot on his elbow, like a topical thing,” Snitker said. “It wasn’t anything in the elbow. He was available today. He threw a side (session) today. It was good.”

Jim Johnson worked the ninth for the save, his second of the year.

Vizcaino has not pitched since Wednesday in Philadelphia, when he was called in to work the eighth inning with the Braves leading 3-2. He gave up a game-winning two-run homer to Freddy Galvis.

Snitker said he was not comfortable calling on Vizcaino with a two-run lead on Sunday

“He hasn’t pitched in a couple days and I was a little leery about, in that kind of game, getting him out there,” Snitker said. “He’ll be good to go on Friday.”
