Left fielder Justin Upton left Tuesday night’s game after experiencing dizziness and feeling light-headed on a night when the heat and humidity might have caught up to him.

“I didn’t feel so hot out there, and (Fredi Gonzalez) decided ‘Hey, it would be smarter for me to get inside and take care of it,’” said Upton, who was feeling better after the game. “Just a rough day.”

Upton had just popped out into foul ground in the sixth inning, before he was replaced in left field by Jordan Schafer at the start of the seventh inning. Upton was 0-for-3 in the game.

Gonzalez said Upton hadn’t felt well for several innings. Temperature at Turner Field was 88 degrees at first pitch.

“He battled through it the first couple innings; it just kept getting worse,” Gonzalez said. “We’ll check him tomorrow. The doctors looked at him this evening, and we’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
