The Atlanta Braves have partnered with Uber to provide longtime usher Walter Banks with rides to and from SunTrust Park so he can continue greeting Braves fans, the team said Tuesday.
Banks has been an usher for the Braves dating back to their first year at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in 1966.
Banks, who lives in the Cascade Road area in Fulton County, spoke in June with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about his concern of making it to the Cobb County ballpark.
“Walter’s unwavering presence and love for the Atlanta Braves has not gone unnoticed,” said Terry McGuirk, Braves Chairman and CEO. “I cannot imagine a Braves game without him. We’re so grateful that Uber was able to make sure Walter continues to be a meaningful part of Braves game days.”
While the Braves gave Banks a behind-the-scenes tour of SunTrust Park last week, Uber Atlanta General Manager Luke Marklin greeted Banks with the news of the gift. Watch:
