How the winning scored: Trailing 3-1 after eight innings Tuesday night, visiting Norfolk's first three batters in the ninth inning reached base, on a ground-rule double off reliever Dusty Hughes and two walks issued by reliever Wirfin Obispo. After striking out the next two batters, Obispo allowed a triple to right by Jason Pridie that gave the Tides a 4-3 lead.

At the plate: The G-Braves' Jordan Parraz hit a two-out, two-run homer in the first inning off former Atlanta Braves pitcher Jair Jurrjens. Tyler Pastornicky and Joey Terdoslavich each was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

On the mound: G-Braves starter Sean Gilmartin pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and three walks. Jurrjens settled down after the first inning and lasted five more. He gave up three runs on eight hits and struck out two.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (6-7) and the Tides (7-6) are to meet again at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. Right-hander David Hale (1-0, 9.31) is Gwinnett's scheduled starter.
